Our Mission
Our goal is to create a thriving community for the elderly, irrespective of caste, belief or gender. Our non-profit organization’s motive is to provide food, shelter and clothing for the aged needy, while providing free medical care and physiotherapy to help them cope with their age. We aim to create awareness in the community on the rights and wellbeing of the elderly and we also encourage neighbouring villagers to be actively involved in our community.
Our PROJECTS
Retirement Home
Senior citizens, regardless of race, creed or gender, are admitted as residents of the Old Age Home on short and long term basis. Boarding and lodging facilities along with laundry, library, medical and nursing care are provided to every boarder.
Orphanage
We are currently in process of opening an orphanage at Abdul Ali Shebashram. We want to give our children a safe haven where they can grow and prosper. We believe that both the children and the elderly will nurture love and affection towards each other.
medical checkup
We organize free medical check-up for our boarders on a regular basis. We are encouraging the nearby villagers to visit out doctors as well. We also organize free physiotherapy for our residents, a service that we also made affordable for the neighbouring villagers.
Computer Training CentRE
We believe in the importance of continuing education. We also understand the ever-growing omnipresence of digital technologies. For this reason, we offer at Abdul Ali Shebashram free computer training courses and English language courses for everyone.
An Old-Age Home Unlike Others
Many young people in Bangladesh are migrating to different cities either within Bangladesh or abroad to further their education or pursue their careerpath, leaving behind their elderly parents at home. The number of such families where all the children have left and only the old parents staying at home is increasing day by day. This phenomenon is called “the empty nests”.
The situation of the elderly person staying alone at home becomes more worse if he or she faces any health issue. With that in mind, we did our best to put in place facilities that will give our senior citizens a positive experience in their twilight years.
Our Facilities
- 20 private and semi-private furnished rooms on a single floor with qualified care takers. It is open to all elderly men and women in reasonably good health.
- 24/7 supervision and medication assistance.
- Three meals and two snacks
- Free internet, library and indoor gaming facilities.
- Transportation assistance to nearby /specialized medical centres.
- Equipped physiotherapy centre free to all boarders.
- Relatives can visit anytime. There is provision of guest’s stay, maximum of 3 days per month with an elderly parent.
- Destitute elderly stays free of cost.
It takes a village to raise a childAfrican Proverb
Taking this proverb to heart, we have decided to start an orphanage at our retirement home. Not only it will alleviate the loneliness of our elderly, the presence of many parental figures will help our children grow and prosper. This type of shared care is something that is seriously being considered in the world and we want to be one of the pioneers in our country.
